Obtaining an offer as a service is not always the best option. Wibke Sudholt, Senior Product Manager at Elca Cloud Services, explains where managed services make sense and where on-prem remains the favourite.
Can everything really be offered "as a service"?
Wibke Sudholt explains that the concept of "Everything-as-a-Service" (XaaS) is increasingly important and gaining traction. It enables customers to flexibly outsource their IT needs thanks to easily configurable and on-demand solutions. However, this model requires a high level of standardization, which can make customized solutions challenging to implement. Additionally, self-service adoption demands a certain level of maturity within organizations. As a result, tailored services remain a critical offering to meet unique needs.
Are on-premise applications becoming obsolete?
The IT industry has always experienced cycles of centralization and decentralization, driven by changing technologies and market conditions. While many companies are migrating to the cloud, others are moving back to on-premise solutions. Specific business requirements still necessitate private cloud environments, even as customers increasingly seek the flexibility and modern features of public clouds. This complexity underscores the importance of individualized advice to navigate the right strategy for each organization.
